Whilst microfilms offer a fairly compact form of storage they require expensive readers and printers which can only be used by one person and regularly break down!

Unless you also have backup copies stored in a fire safe or off-site then they are also just as prone to disaster as the original documents.

We can scan your microfilms and archive them with all your other documents so any user can access them instantly from their desktop.

We can also supply our FREE Alchemy or QuickImage viewer as part of our microfilm scanning service so all you need to access them is any PC. Simple!

We Can Scan All Sizes and Types of Microfilm

Our Sunrise Imaging, Bell & Howell and Wicks & Wilson scanners can cope with jacket, roll, COM, 35mm aperture card or any other form of microfilm data. We can also scan 1/4 (75mm), 1/2 (105mm), full plate and x-ray films.

Our Wicks & Wilson scanner can also read punched Holrith data direct from the card, if available, which reduces the indexing required for large volumes.

The final images, if microfilmed originally to a good standard, will then be just as high a quality as a direct scan of the original document or drawing with up to 400dpi resolution across the original sheet size. Scanning can be done in either B+W or greyscale for very poor/low contrast images.

DCS are one of a handful of UK suppliers approved by the National Archives to scan their valuable microfilm information. Our throughput is over 300,000 images per day for 16mm roll film or around 20,000 per day for 35mm aperture cards.
