DCS improve Siemens customer service levels by scanning over 2 million records

With over 2 million part maintenance records for turbomachinery dating back to the 1950s, Siemens had a problem.

Records were spread over many global service centres, retrieval took time and was also very labour intensive.
To compound problems, the records were also stored in many different formats including 35mm aperture cards, roll film, microfiche and paper.

A decision was therefore taken to convert these all into electronic format in a common Oracle database which could be accessed by Siemens staff of customers 24/7 and from anywhere in the world.

After many discussions with subcontractors, Siemens chose DCS to carry out the work and this was duely completed on-time and to budget by DCS's expert outsource service.

Now worlwide repair shops are able to get repair quotes to customers far faster and no misfiling means information isn't lost. An added benefit is that office space previously dedicated to files can now be used for more productive purposes.
