DCS provide data for IWM / C4 TV series website
(Oct 2005)
DCS have completed the digital capture of the war service records of hundreds of thousands of servicemen who died in active duty during WW1.
The project was completed as part of the recent Channel 4 TV series 'The Lost Generation' and data can now be searched live on Channel 4's website at www.channel4.com/history/microsites/L/lostgeneration where relatives can be located by name or other memorial information.
The original data was gathered over decades by the Imperial War Museum staff and volunteers and held in a wide array of documents, photographs and reports. In order to put this valuable data online it had to be manually filtered and then keyed in by DCS's team of data entry operators.
In all DCS had a team of over 50 staff keying and double keying (for accuracy) over 10 million keystrokes and this was all completed in approx 2 months.
DCS have now completed many very large data entry projects for other media and MOD related customers and we are very proud to be involved in such a publically visible and valuable project.
