DCS automate the capture of Antarctic Survey documents from remote sites over the web

The Antarctic Survey is one of the many Government funded members of the Research Councils and they carry out a varied range of research activities at a number of UK and Antarctic bases.
In 2003 DCS were approached by the Research Councils to implement a document capture solution to accomodate centralised scanning for their paper documents which were then to be managed with MS Sharepoint or Objective EDM solutions. Documents were very varied in their content and could be submitted from scanners and/or MFD devices around the building.
DCS resolved this capture problem by deploying a customised Kofax Ascent Capture solution which all documents into a set of common workflows and then released them into the respective EDM solution used by the different Research Councils.
In 2005 the system was further expanded so that remote sites could also submit scanned documents via Kofaxes Internet Server into the same set of workflows.
