Features

ImageControls® is a set of ActiveX controls for high-volume scanning, automated recognition, image clean-up, forms processing, and the viewing and printing of images. 

The toolkit comes with five 32-bit ActiveX controls, a Visual Basic and Visual C++ demo program, and complete documentation. It is fully compatible with Microsoft Visual Basic (version 5.x, 32-bit) and Visual C++ (version 5.x, 32-bit). 

ImageControls supports all leading production document scanners at rated speed. It supports color, grayscale, and black - and- white scanning, and enables you to import images directly from disk in a variety of file formats. 

There are ten common dialogs ready for integration for users to set scanner settings. Other features include support for:

• Automatic blank page deletion
• Automatic rotation (independent rotation angles for front and back sides of duplex images)
• Automatic length detection
• Independent picking rectangles for front and back sides of duplex images
• Text annotation and endorsing

ImageControls scanning applications

Applications based on ImageControls require an Adrenaline software engine or a Kofax image processing accelerator. Depending on the Adrenaline product used, your ImageControls application can support a wide variety of features:

• Scanning up to 200 ppm (400 images per minute) on leading production scanners from Agfa, Böwe Bell & Howell, Fujitsu, Kodak, Panasonic and Ricoh
• Network printing to 25 ppm, royalty free
• Display support for black and white, grayscale, and color images up to 24 images per second, royalty free
• File storage and retrieval (supports TIFF, multi-page TIFF, PCX, BMP, JPEG file formats)
• Image compression and decompression, scaling and rotation
• Bar code recognition: Recognizes 13 different bar code types, including up to 64 different bar codes in any orientation on a single document. In addition, ImageControls supports 2D bar code symbologies.
• Patch code recognition: Detects and recognizes up to six unique patch code types. Patch codes can be used to recognize changes in batches, stop the scanner for manual adjustment, update scanner settings on-the-fly, or to signify any unique attributes in a set of documents.
• Black border removal: Eliminates the black edges generated by scanners with black backgrounds, reducing the image file size while improving legibility.
• Deskew: Compensates for image skew during scanning, resulting in straight images. The deskew feature does not require lines or leading edge borders.
• Speckle, shade and streak removal: Adjusts for shaded backgrounds and eliminate random noise (speckles and streaks) whether present on the original document or generated during the scan.
• Line removal and character repair: Eliminates all unwanted horizontal and vertical lines. Developers can provide automatic character repair when desired text and unwanted lines intersect.
• Image filtering: Makes documents more legible and recognizable by performing a variety of image enhancements. Lines and characters can be smoothed, thickened, thinned, filled, or outlined.
• Form recognition: Compares each scanned image against a catalog of master forms and returns a list of the most likely matches.
